Galen Knight, 57, of Greenwood, Indiana, died Monday, September, 26, 2011, in Greenwood. Galen began working at Dunham Rubber and Belting 35 years ago in sales and progressed to his most current position as Vice President of Sales and Marketing, as well as becoming an owner of the company. In addition to his job, Galen served as a member of many local and national organizations.
He was a strong supporter and volunteer of the United Way of Johnson County, served on the Board of Directors and most currently as the Chairman of the Education and Technical Committee for the National Industrial Belting Association, was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Greenwood, IN, was actively involved in the Indiana and Johnson County Republican Party and a member of Mount Auburn United Methodist Church. Galen was also a lover of people and life and would do anything for those he loved.
He loved spending time with his friends and family, traveling all over the world (especially Italy), was greatly interested in politics and was the owner of two beloved dogs. Galen is preceded in death by his father, Russell Knight. Survivors include his mother, Frances Jean Williams Knight of Greenwood, IN; his wife of 38 years, Susan Gail Stokes Knight of Greenwood, IN; a son, Matthew Christian Knight, and daughter-in-law, Cinthia Herrera Knight (pregnant with twins) of Greenwood, IN; a daughter, Ashlee Elizabeth Knight of Seattle, WA; and brothers James Knight of Noblesville, IN, and Richard Knight of Wylie, TX.
